Police Beat Oct. 11 – 15

Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 1:46 p.m. A female student reported a battery charge against her boyfriend after he forcibly took her keys in parking Lot F. The female student reported to ECPD following the incident, and the boyfriend was detained by police officers on the west side of the Library.

Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 2:59 p.m. A male student allegedly used an emergency pole near Lot H to report a false emergency to ECPD, screaming that he needed help. The dispatch was able to get a clear view of who made the call through surveillance cameras and arrested the student after he admitted to playing on the phone. He was charged for reporting a false emergency and will be referred to the Director of Student Development.

Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 9:53 a.m. A female student felt dizzy and almost passed out in the Social Science Building Room 122. Officers and Paramedics were notified and arrived on time to offer aid to the student. The Instructor was present during the time of the incident.

Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 12:29 p.m. A non-student male allegedly used a pen-camera to videotape women in the restroom on the second floor of the EC Library. He was arrested for videotaping and for failure to register as a sex offender. For more info on this story, click here.

Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 2:43 p.m. A female student tripped and fell on the Art Patio while walking to class, causing pain in her right knee, left hand, and face. Paramedics and officers arrived to the scene after a medical aid call was sent out. This report has also been given to the Office of Safety and Health.

Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 11:53 a.m. A male student jumped on his car while his car was getting towed. He then jumped off the car when the officers arrived to speak with them. The officers asked if he had a driver’s license or an Identification Card, to which he said no. While reaching into his wallet to give the officers his ECC ID, the officers saw his driver’s license. The student was then arrested, and will be referred to the Directer of Student Development.

Thursday, Oct. 13 at 9:31 p.m. A female student fell on the ground in the Library. Officers responded to the call and immediately notified Paramedics. A copy of this report was also sent to the Office of Safety and Health.

Thursday, Oct. 13 at 11:13 a.m. A female student began to shake uncontrollably while at her work station in the ITEC Building Room 148. Officers and paramedics responded to the medical aid call, but the student declined to be transported and instead said she would seek her own medical physician.

Friday, Oct. 14 at 9:06 a.m. An ECC instructor reported one of her female students to ECPD after she had made an attempt on her life earlier in the day and was seen crying in class. Officers and paramedics arrived to Humanities Building Room 208, and told the officers she wished to seek help, with the paramedics transporting her to a local hospital.

Friday, Oct. 14 at 12:23 p.m. Officers stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The stop happened on the 16400 and Crenshaw Blvd. The officers gave the driver, a non-student, a citation for a $75,000 warrant from the Hermosa Beach Police Department. He was then released.

Saturday, Oct. 15 at 1:40 p.m. Officer stopped a male for riding his bike on the sidewalk. The stop happened on 16600 and Prairie Ave. The male, a non-student, had a small amount of methamphetamine. Officers gave him a citation for possession of a controlled substance and released him.
