Baseball team crushes Cerritos

Freshman first baseman Jake Sahagian hit a ground ball toward the Falcons’ third baseman.

An error helped Sahagian reach first base and allowed sophomore left-fielder Alex Turner to run home and gave his team an early 1-0 lead.

The Warriors baseball team travelled to Cerritos on Tuesday to play the Falcons on home turf. El Camino shut them out 6-0 in the three-game series, according to CCCAA Stats.

After three more scoreless innings, EC earned two runs in the top of the fifth inning and one in the top of the sixth to add to their slim lead of 4-0.

As the game drew to a close, the Warriors earned two more runs in the top of the ninth inning to put the final nail in the Falcons’ coffin and gave them the 6-0 victory.

The Warriors were solid all day at the plate. They recorded ten hits against Falcons’ pitchers Ryan Arambula, Travis Bonner and Adrian Ramirez.

In addition, the Warriors had a strong day on the mound. Sophomore pitcher Dalton Erb pitched nine full innings and only conceded three hits and threw seven strikeouts.

EC’s record has improved to 21-10, and their conference record is at 9-7. They look to continue their seven-game win streak as they host Cerritos on Thursday April 16.
