“Me oh my oh hi oh lo oh…e oh i oh i oh e…e e oh oh lo lo hi…oh oh my my lo lo me. Mum rah chum rah bum rah dumb rah…hum hum rah rah chum dumb hah…dumb.”

The loud chanting voices by the cast of the “Clan Clash” echoed their mantra through the Marsee Auditorium, announcing their arrival. The cast members of the Spring Advanced Dance Concert took to stage on Thursday, April 26 at 1 p.m. with wooden sticks in hand, clapping accompanying rhythmic beats.

The tattered monotone colored attire emphasized the movement of the dancers and their delivering message as they invited all to join in chant.

“Let’s see which side can be the loudest,” a cast member shouted and in an instant all became part of the performance.

Divided straight down the middle, the right and left side competition began. Coached practice rounds became louder and louder, with the right side becoming victorious in the challenge.

Cast members continued their expression with dance moves choreographed to unison stick beats. Enthused sideline chanters added the mantra chant as “Clan Clash” dancers brought their rhythmic performance to its conclusion.

Thirteen dance performances followed the “Clan Clash” opening, seven of them choreographed by student and faculty choreographers. Each performance title offered a hint to its message expressed through dance.
