Art Gallery debuts ‘Thread’ exhibit for fall semester

The El Camino Art Gallery is hosting an exhibition titled “Thread” that focuses on the aspects of thread featuring different art pieces from 15 artists, according to the gallery flier.

The artists used thread and other textures to create the art that is presented in this exhibition, which represents a variety of things from the real world.

“Victoria May, she is taking a stretcher that is like a World War II stretcher and embroidered the body right into it,” Susanna Meiers, Director of the Art Gallery, said. “It shows the whole capillary system of the body. (She) uses red thread to represent blood.”

The “Thread” exhibit opened on Aug. 29 and its last day will be on Sept. 22. The Gallery is open Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-8 p.m.

The event is open for the public and is free. However, those who don’t have a parking permit will need to pay $3 to park on campus.
