Without a need to plan a trip to visit different parts of the world, EC has taken the initiative to bring these places to the campus.
The Center of the Arts will continue to showcase films about foreign countries this semester at the Marsee Auditorium .
“They’re called tribal films,” Bruce Spain, exectuive director of The Center for the Arts said. “They are taking you on a journey to a country. For example, today we’re going to England. In two weeks, we’re going to India.”
The films are intended to inform students about information regarding traveling to other countries.
“It gives you an idea on what to see when you are traveling through that country,” Spain said. “It’s more about the different locations and the different things you can do as a sight seer in that country.”
Each film is shown every other Monday at 3 p.m and 7:30 p.m. in the Marsee Auditorium.
The campus will be is hosting these films through other agencies this year.
“The films are provided through different agencies, and the film producers come in with the physical films themselves,” Spain said.
The films are $7 a ticket for non-El Camino guests, and $6 for senior citizens with a valid ID and children.
Students can find out more information about these films and the Center of Arts at the website.
These films are running until April 4, 2011. The next film showing is “India: No Matter How Dark the Present” on March 14, 2011.
“People look through them and say that it looks interesting’,” said Spain.
