Track and field team moves on to SoCal Finals

The El Camino track team visited Cerritos College once again for the SoCal Regional Preliminaries.

The SoCal preliminaries decide who makes it to finals and move on to state.

The Warriors have a handful of men and women who made the cut and will move on to next Saturday’s meet, according to Direct Athletics.

Men’s Results:

Sophomores Chris Rasmussen and Will Ingram qualified for the high jump.

Freshman Kevin Heinemann qualified for the javelin throw.

Sophomore Teddy Kassa qualified for the steeplechase and the 10,000-meter run.

Sophomore Michael Nakahara also qualified for the 10,000-meter run.

Sophomore Daniel York-Mouton qualified for the 400-meter dash.

Sophomore Chris Graham qualified in the 110-meter hurdles.

The men’s 4×400 relay team also qualified.

Women’s Results:

Both the 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams qualified for finals.

Sophomore Hailey Heinemann qualified in 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Freshman Victoria Portor qualified for the 800-meter run.

Freshman Xiomara Perkins qualified for the 400-meter dash.

Sophomore Cambria Serrano qualified for the javelin throw.

Freshman Zaynab Bent-Mikail qualified for the triple-jump.

Freshman Sara Curran qualified for pole vault.

The Warriors will return to Cerritos on Saturday, May 9 for the Southern California Championship Finals to compete for spots in the state qualifier.
