El Camino played hard by having a well executed strategy and was well coordinated with their plays, which gave them more of an advantage in a 20-0 shutout of L.A. Trade Tech College on Wednesday.

“We needed to stay more in the passing lanes, more defense,” EC freshman Ilene Guerrero said.

In the first quarter El Camino led, 6-0, with Guerrero scoring twice, and freshmen Yamilet Lopez, Andrea Canchola, and Samantha Beattie all scoring once.

“We did well by getting our shots off on the offense and were able to improve by being a more experienced team now,” freshman Sabrina Byrne said.

Canchola, Guerrero, and freshman Guadalupe Sanchez scored a goal in the second quarter to give EC an 11-0 lead going into halftime while Trade Tech was left to regroup.

When the third quarter began, freshman Kelly Roberts came through with three goals, Guerrero came in with another two goals, and Byrne and sophomore Rachel Heredia each scored a goal.

“We did a lot of things well with good counter attacks, offense and ball control,” coach Corey Stanbury said.
