El Camino’s comeback in the final five minutes fell short after freshman kicker Nathan Hierlihy’s 48-yard potential game-winning field goal was tipped at the line to give the Warriors a 38-36 loss to Long Beach City College at Redondo Union High School on Saturday.

The loss was coach John Featherstone’s final game after 31 years with the program. Featherstone finishes his storied career with an overall record of 214-119-1.

“I really felt we were going to find a way to win,” Featherstone said. “Our kids played hard until the end but Long Beach beat us fair and square.”

The Warriors finished the 2015 season 3-7 overall and 2-4 in the National Central League.
