El Camino College’s men’s soccer team tied with Compton Center 2-2 on Tuesday, bringing its overall record to 1-5-2, according to cccaasports.org.

EC began the game with a strong two-goal lead, but Compton scored two penalty kicks during the second half which tied the game.

EC coach, John Britton, said the team played a good game, but mistakes put the team in a position to end the game with a tie.

“We can only blame ourselves because we had several one-on-one opportunities and we didn’t take them,” Britton said. “We were two up, had three clear chances to be up by more, didn’t take them and It came back to haunt us.”

Britton went on to say that the team played very well, but the team served as their own enemy.

“We count this game as a loss,” he said. “We were clearly the better team, but we shot ourselves in the foot.”

Assistant coach Darren Dunn said that the team will be working on patience when it comes to their defense for the next game.

El Camino College’s men’s soccer’s next game will be facing Pasadena College at home Friday, Oct.2 at 2 p.m.
