Police Beat Oct. 3 – Oct. 10

El Camino College

Oct. 2, 6:20 p.m. An officer responded to Lot H for a hit-and-run report. According to the report, a student told the officer that she returned to her car that was parked on the second level and saw that her rear bumper was damaged. Five days later, the hit-and-run driver came to the police lobby to report the incident. The driver, who is also a student, told an officer that he was scared and left the scene. The female student didn’t want to press charges.

Oct. 3, 11:46 a.m. An officer responded to the Music Building for a medical aid. According to the report, a female student was having trouble breathing. The student refused paramedics and had her mother pick her up.

Oct. 5, 7:22 p.m. An officer responded to the police lobby for a sexual harassment report. According to the report, a female student told the officer that a male student in her math class was sexually harassing her at the bus stop at Manhattan Beach and Crenshaw Boulevards. The woman told the officer that the male student touched her inappropriately and kissed her neck without consent. The male student denied forcing himself on the female student. Gardena police was informed of the crime since it happened in their city. According to the report, the female student is desirous of prosecution.

Oct. 5, 10:33 p.m. An officer stopped a vehicle in the 16700 block of Crenshaw Boulevard. According to the report, the officer stopped the vehicle for making an unsafe turn. The driver who was a student had a suspended drivers license. The officer issued the student a citation and let a female passenger with a valid license take control of the car.

Oct. 7, 11:25 a.m. An officer responded to the police lobby for a theft report. According to the report, a student told the officer that his backpack was unattended in the Library, and when he returned to his desk his backpack was missing. There were no witnesses to the theft. A report was taken.

Oct. 8, 1:28 p.m. An officer responded to the police lobby for a theft report. According to the report, a female student told the officer that she had her property stolen from her in the women’s locker room. The student noticed her lock was also missing, and thinks she may have not properly locked the locker.

Gardena

Oct. 5, 5:08 p.m. A black 2014 Kia Optima was stolen from the 15500 block of Western Avenue.

Oct. 7, 12:34 p.m. An unknown suspect entered through a sliding glass of a apartment in the 2100 block of 157th Street and an iPad was reported stolen.

Oct. 7, 11:57 p.m. A home in the 2600 block of 157th Street was burglarized by unknown suspects who broke a sliding glass door window. An iPad, money and a gold necklace with a jade Buddha pendant was taken.

Oct. 9, 8:33 a.m. A 1989 Toyota Camry was stolen from the 16000 block of Manhattan Place.

Oct. 10, 7:16 a.m. A silver 2004 Honda Civic was stolen from the 15400 block of Western Avenue.

Torrance

Oct. 5, 2 a.m. Unknown suspects cut a hole in a roof of a business in the 3900 block of Artesia Boulevard to gain access to an ATM. The unknown suspects attempted to cut open the ATM but were unsuccessful.
