Police Beat Aug. 10 – Aug. 16

Aug. 10, 3:25 p.m. According to the report, officers responded to the Communications building for a indecent exposure call. Officers found a man and woman inside the woman’s restroom. The man and woman who are not students told officers that he and his girlfriend were just going to “make out” and that the restroom was a secluded spot. The man was issued a citation for being inside the woman’s restroom, and they were escorted off of campus. A report was taken.

Aug. 11, 10:02 a.m. According to the report, officers responded to the east side of the Humanities building for a suspicious person. Officers found a transient loitering in the area and mumbling to himself. The man was taken into protective custody and transported to an area hospital for a 72 hour mental evaluation. A report was taken.

Aug. 11, 12:06 p.m. An officer responded to the Center For Applied Technology for a medical aid. According to the report, a student struck his finger with a hammer while attempting to pry apart sheet metal. The student had minor injuries and declined medical aid. A report was taken.

Aug. 11, 2:26 p.m. Officers responded to Lot H for a petty theft report. A report was taken.

Aug. 12, 12:19 p.m. According to the report, an officer responded to the station for a theft report. A student said that someone removed the catalytic converter from his vehicle in Lot L. The security cameras in Lot L were down and did not capture the crime. A report was taken.

Aug. 13, 1:00 a.m. According to the report, officers made contact with a man inside a vehicle at Alondra Park. The man was parked inside the parking lot which prohibits parking after midnight. The man inside the car was in possession of a BB gun that resembled a Colt semi-automatic pistol. The man who is not a student was arrested and transport to the Torrance police station for booking. A report was taken.

Aug. 13, 9:59 p.m. According to the report, officers made a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 17100 block of Prairie Avenue. The vehicle had a warrant on file. The woman who is not a student had a suspended drivers license. The officers cited her for driving with a suspended license and had her park her vehicle at the location. A report was taken.

Aug. 16, 3:52 a.m. Officers responded to the Chemistry building for suspicious circumstances. Officers made sure the building was secure.
