Police Beat July 25 – July 30

July 25, 8:40 p.m. An officer stopped a vehicle with a broken tail light in the 3300 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard. According to the report, the driver, a man who is not a student was driving with a suspended license. The officer issued the man a citation and had the man park his vehicle at the scene. A report was taken.

July 26, 12 p.m. According to the report, an officer responded to the police lobby for a medical aid call. A male non-student told the dispatcher that he was experiencing chest pains. Paramedics were called and arrived on scene. The man was transported to an area hospital. A report was taken.

July 27, 9:55 a.m. Officers responded to the Library for a disturbance call. According to the report, two male students were involved in a verbal altercation. Officers escorted both of the students out of the Library. Both of the students were referred to the Director of Student Development. A report was taken.

July 27, 11:20 a.m. According to the report, officers responded to Lot L for a disturbance call. Two females, one who is a student, were involved in a verbal altercation. The non-student was asked to leave campus, and the student was allowed to go to class. The student was referred to the Director of Student Development. A report was taken.

July 27, 1:14 p.m. Officers responded to the MBA building for a disturbance call. According to the report, two men, one who is a student, were involved in a verbal altercation inside the building. The man who was not a student confronted the student inside the computer lab and insulted him. The non-student told the student that he was a “Blood” gang member. Officers escorted the man who was claiming gang affiliation off of campus and advised him not to return or he would be arrested for trespassing. A report was taken.

July 27, 4:15 p.m. According to the report, officers responded to the Bookstore for a theft that just occurred. A Bookstore employee observed a woman take candy and not pay for it. Officers located the woman at the corner of Manhattan Beach Boulevard and Crenshaw Boulevard. The officers made contact and discovered that the woman had a $26,000 warrant from Gardena Police for petty theft. The woman was handed over to Gardena Police for her warrant. The Bookstore was not desirous of prosecution. A report was taken.

July 28, 1:43 p.m. An officer responded to the police lobby for a theft report. According to the report, a female student left he cell phone on a shelf inside the women’s restroom on the second floor of the MBA building. When she realized that she left it there, she went back to retrieve her phone, but discovered that it was gone. A report was taken.

July 29, 12:37 p.m. According to the report, officers responded to Lot A for a woman who was yelling at passing pedestrians. Officers located and detained the woman. The woman who is not a student told officers that she recently had her vehicle stolen and was upset. Officers located a small amount of marijuana on her person, and was issued her a citation. A report was taken.

July 30, 11:35 p.m. Officers stopped a vehicle with a broken tail light in the 17300 block of Crenshaw Boulevard. The driver who was not a student was in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine. The man was transported to the Torrance police station for booking. A report was taken.
