Police Beat July 18 – July 22

July 18, 11:33 a.m. According to the report, an officer responded to the north ramp of Lot F for a medical aid call. An elderly man was walking down the ramp when he tripped over the concrete median and fell down. The man told the officer he had pain in his right knee and hand. Paramedics were called and recommended that the man be transported to a hospital. The man declined to be transported and went on his way to the Hawaiian Festival in Alondra Park. A report was taken.

July 20, 9:17 a.m. Officers responded to Lot E for as domestic violence call. According to the report, a female student called dispatch and said that she was being attacked by her boyfriend. Officers conducted an area check for the student and her boyfriend, but officers were unable to locate them. A staff member flagged down officers and stated that he saw the man arguing with the female student. The staff member said that he saw the man pull the female’s purse strap, pulling her to the ground. The staff member then saw the man get on a bicycle and ride toward Alondra Park. Around 2 p.m. the female student went to the campus police station to file a report. She did not receive any injuries as a result of being pulled to the ground. A report was taken.

July 21, 12:42 p.m. An officer responded to the police lobby for a theft report. According to the report, a male student said that he placed his personal property inside a locker in the men’s locker room. He told the officer that he did not lock the locker because he didn’t have a lock. The student returned from his PE class two hours later and discovered that someone had stole his property. A report was taken.

July 21, 1:10 p.m. According to the report, an officer responded to the walkway in front of the Auditorium for a disturbance call. A male student told the officer that he was being harassed by two males that were trying to obtain petition signatures. The solicitors were being very aggressive toward the student and raising their voices. The officer made contact with the two solicitors at the location. The officer said that the solicitors were being uncooperative, and the officer asked them to leave campus. The two men soliciting were not students and left the campus. A report was taken.

July 22, 3:55 p.m. An officer responded to the North Gym for a medical aid call. A female student was playing basketball when she twisted her left ankle. Paramedics were called to the scene and examined the student to make sure her ankle wasn’t broken. The paramedics determined her ankle wasn’t broken, and the student refused to be transported. The student said she would seek medical attention on her own. A report was taken.
