Police Beat Feb. 29 – March 8

Feb. 29, 3:45 a.m. Officers took a vandalism report for an incident in Lot L.

Feb. 29, 9:41 a.m. Officers responded to the first floor of the MBA Building for a narcotics call. When officers arrived they were unable to locate the incident.

March 1, 1:39 a.m. A man who was spray painting graffiti on a wall in Lot L was arrested after an officer on patrol saw the man spray painting. The man, who is not a student, was arrested for vandalism and booked at the police station. He was released after signing a notice to appear in court.

March 1, 9:25 a.m. A student who had his bicycle stolen from the north side of the Humanities Building went to the police station to report the theft.

March 2, 4:15 a.m. An officer stopped a vehicle in the 3400 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard for an equipment violation. The driver, who is not a student, had a suspended license. The officer cited the driver and a friend came to pick up the vehicle.

March 3, 10:48 a.m. A man riding his bicycle on the sidewalk in the 3300 block of Redondo Beach Boulevard was stopped by an officer and issued a citation for riding his bicycle on the sidewalk.

March 3, 3:59 p.m. A student went to the police station to make a report about an instructor who made remarks about her appearance. An officer took a report and referred the student to the division dean.

March 3, 5:50 p.m. A student was involved in a verbal dispute with her instructor in the ITEC Building. When officers arrived at the classroom, the officers ran the student’s information and discovered that the student had a $25,000 warrant from the Los Angeles Police Department for driving on a suspended license. The student was issued a citation for her warrant and was told to leave the class for the day.

March 4, 9:47 a.m. A student who has had previous contact with the police for causing disturbances on campus was at the Athletic Field causing a disturbance. Officers determined that the student needed to be taken to an area hospital for a psychological evaluation.

March 4, 2:09 p.m. A vehicle with an equipment violation was stopped in the 15400 block of Crenshaw Boulevard. The driver, who is not a student, had a $10,000 warrant from the Los Angeles Police Department for petty theft. The officer issued the driver a citation for the warrant.

March 7, 8:40 a.m. Officers responded to the ground level of the MBA Building for a suspicious person. When officers arrived they were not able to locate anyone.

March 8, 10:57 a.m. An officer took a petty theft report for a theft in the second floor of the Art and Behavioral Science Building.

March 8, 1:20 p.m. An officer took a petty theft report at the police station.
