A two-car crash shut down both eastbound lanes of Redondo Beach Boulevard at Crenshaw Boulevard today for about 30 minutes around 12:20 p.m.

ECPD Officer Matt Ryan said a black Toyota was going eastbound on Redondo Beach Boulevard when a silver sedan started to make an illegal left turn into El Camino Plaza from the No. 1 westbound lane. El Camino Plaza is located directly across from Lot L, on the southeast corner of Crenshaw and Redondo Beach boulevards.

Ryan said he didn’t know about the injuries of those inside the vehicles, but the driver of the silver sedan was put onto a stretcher and loaded into a McCormick Ambulance.

The Toyota had damage on the front right side. The silver sedan had spun and was on grass and sidewalk when police responded. That vehicle had a disabled license plate.

Right after the crash, Ryan directed drivers coming out of El Camino Plaza to exit onto Crenshaw Boulevard instead of Redondo Beach Boulevard.

One witness called the police immediately after the crash and ECPD was there within a few minutes. Gardena Police and Torrance Fire Department also responded to the scene.
