Workshop to help with writing papers

College essays may be less challenging to write after attending the “Formatting Papers Workshop” tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the Library Demonstration Center, Room 10.

The free workshop will cover topics such as margins, font sizes and types, spacing and when to start new paragraphs.

ASO members go to L.A. conference

This weekend, about 13 ASO members will be attending the California Student Association of Community Colleges 2005 Spring Legislative conference at the LAX Marriott hotel.

ASO president Phillip Gomez is running for policy director. If elected, his duties will include speaking on committees and covering all community colleges.

Get STOMP’ed at annual UCLA tour

Tomorrow marks the 6th Annual STOMP Conference, a UCLA tour sponsored by the Transfer Center. Students may acquire information on transfer strategies, admissions, majors, student life, housing, financial aid and more.

Transportation is provided, leaving EC at 7 a.m. and returning 4:30 p.m. A refundable $5 deposit is required upon signing up for the tour.

Career counseling available May 18

Counselor Ken Gaines will be presenting “Strategies for Creating Success in College and in Life,” a career workshop sponsored by the Career Center.

The presentation will discuss how to make wise choices to improve your life and will address certain barriers to success.

The event will take place Wednesday, May 18 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in SSVC 106, seating is limited and may be reserved by signing up in the Career Center or calling (310) 660-6137.

GSA art display ends today in Activities

Today is the final day of the “Day of Silence Art Display,” presented by the Gay-Straight Alliance, open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Student Activites Center.

Peer support group for women open

Appealing to women interested in careers in industry and technology, the Women in Industry and Technology Program is hosting a peer support group meeting on Tuesday, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Student Services Center, Room 204.

Book fair opens next week to raise funds

Offering discount prices on books and magazines, the annual Spring Book Fair will take place from Tuesday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the East Lounge of the Student Activities Center.

The free event raises funds for the Schauerman Library and scholorships.
