Mt. SAC snaps baseball win-streak

The baseball team had a tough start against Mt. San Antonio, earned only one run for seven innings, and conceded four runs over the first five innings. All the while the Mounties held a 4-1 lead, according to CCCAA Stats.

The Warriors traveled to Walnut and played Mt. San Antonio for the second of a three-game series. El Camino lost 4-3, and ended their four-game win streak.

After the slow seven innings, EC showed some spirit late in the game with two runs in the top of the eighth that brought the game close at 4-3. However, they were unable to capitalize in the ninth inning to give them the win.

Though they couldn’t earn the win, the Warriors had a strong day at the plate against Mounties pitchers Josh Avila and Andrew Matus, and recorded a total of ten hits.

The biggest hitters on the day were sophomore second baseman Joseph Cortez, freshman right-fielder Jonathan Pasillas, sophomore catcher Joey Notch, and freshman third baseman Ricardo Serrano, who earned two hits each.

The pitching for the Warriors was strong against the Mounties. Sophomore Chris Alcala and freshman Reece Buska pitched valiantly. Alcala recorded four strikeouts, and Buska recorded one against the Mounties.

The record for the Warriors now holds at 14-10, their conference record dropped to 4-7. They host the Mounties at home Saturday March 28.
